United Kingdom - King’s College London Postdoc Researcher in Molecular Genetics

We seek to appoint an experienced geneticist/biologist to contribute to molecular genetic studies that will extend our understanding of the epigenetic mechanisms regulating imprinted retrogenes, examine their evolution and investigate their function in mammalian development. The appointee will play a role in the design and execution of these studies.

The Epigenetics Group has an interest in addressing the molecular basis of epigenetic gene regulation specifically relating to imprinting. This project will use molecular biology techniques to test the imprinting status and methylation dependence of novel imprinted retrogenes and their host genes predicted from a bioinformatics screen.

The applicant will delineate features that define imprinted retrogenes as predictive tools and investigate the mechanisms and functional aspects of selected imprinted retrogenes and their host genes.

Starting salary will be £30,594-33,432 plus £2,323 London Weighting per annum

This full time post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for 36 months.

Applicants must have a PhD in biological sciences or a related subject. Prior experience in molecular biology and some knowledge of bioinformatics would be an advantage.
