Brandeis University USA: Graduate Scholarship in Poverty Alleviation and Development for African Students 2010-2011

GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP in Poverty Alleviation and Development for African Students now is open in Brandeis University, The Heller School for Social Policy and Management, USA. The Poverty Alleviation and Development (P&D) Scholarship for the Master of Arts in Sustainable International Development will be awarded to an early– to mid-career development planner committed to poverty alleviation and community development within the region of Southern Africa.

The P&D Scholar will join SID graduate students from over 40 countries in August 2010 for an interdisciplinary study of development and project management emphasizing poverty reduction, gender equality, human rights and biodiversity conservation. The P&D Scholar will concentrate on theoretical and analytical skills in the year-in-residence at Brandeis University and then spend a second year in a supervised internship or field project. The P&D Scholarship includes full tuition remission for the year-in-residence. The scholarship does NOT cover airfare, health insurance or any living expenses. Nominations are encouraged from international and governmental development institutions and NGOs. Selfnominations are accepted and women are especially encouraged to apply.

Applications (to be submitted by the applicant) should include:
• Letter of Interest in Southern Africa Poverty Alleviation & Development Scholarship
• Completed Application Form
• Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
• Detailed Statement of Purpose describing career objectives and work experience
• Three original letters of recommendation (at least one professional and one academic) on official letterhead sent directly to the Admissions Office from the recommenders (These letters must be accompanied by a Brandeis University Recommendation Form)
• Original or certified true copies of transcripts from all university-level studies, sent directly to the Admissions office from each university (Transcripts in languages other than English must be accompanied by an official English translation)
• Official TOEFL or IELTS score report is required for all international applicants.

Nationals of the following countries will be considered: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Scholarships for Women 2010 (International Students)

Scholarships for Women 2010 for International Students are available.

Women in Aviation, International is made up of dreamers–every one of us. Our scholarship awards are a major part of what our organization is all about. In the past 20 years WAI has disbursed millions of dollars to its members to help them get ahead and advance into the aviation and aerospace careers they have always dreamed about. Our scholarships help teachers fulfill their dreams, too, by providing them with the resources they need to bring aviation into their classrooms or to enhance their skills.

We could not bring these scholarships to you without the assistance of our generous sponsors and corporate members so please remember that these companies and individuals are the reasons why we can offer these incredible opportunities to you. Remember, you must be a member of Women in Aviation, International to apply for these scholarships. You can join online, or by filling out one of the membership cards included in the Aviation for Women magazine. It will be the best $39 ($29 for students) that you’ll spend this year. Each applicant must be a WAI member and may apply for no more than two scholarships. All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded during the 21st Annual International Women in Aviation Conference, to be held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort on February 25-27, 2010. Applications must be postmarked by November 20, 2009.

Google Scholarship for Women 2009

Google have released information of the Google Europe Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship 2009, which aims to encourage women to excel in computing and technology, and become active role models and leaders. the Scholarships are open to female students entering their final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or enrolled in an a Master’s or PhD programme (or equivalent), in 2009/2010.
Multiple scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic background and demonstrated leadership. A group of female Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD student finalists will be chosen from the applicant pool. The scholarship recipients, selected from the finalists, will each receive a €5,000 (or equivalent) scholarship for the 2009/2010 academic year. In June 2009, all finalists will be invited to visit Google’s European Engineering Centre in Zurich for a networking retreat.

Candidates must:

* be a female student entering her final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or enrolled in an a Master’s or PhD programme (or equivalent), in 2009/2010.
* be enrolled at a University in Europe. Citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to apply.
* be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a closely related technical field.
* maintain an excellent academic record (e.g. a First Class Honours degree).

The online application form and requested documentation must be submitted by 26th January 2009. All applications will be acknowledged by email. Finalists will be notified in April 2009.
