[Singapore] SMART Graduate Fellowships 2010

The Singapore Ministry of education offers graduate fellowships at Nanyang Tecnological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS)for 2010. The Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) Graduate Fellowship at SMART

The Singapore Ministry of Education has established 100 four-year fellowships for new doctoral students at NTU or NUS who will conduct their research at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre (SMART Centre).

The establishment of this Fellowship Programme is intended to attract to NTU and NUS the best and most talented doctoral students from Singapore, the region, and beyond and educate them to be future leaders in science and technology for Singapore and beyond. The Fellowship will provide them with the opportunity to be involved in the strategic research programmes at the SMART Centre and provide them with the opportunity to be co-advised by an MIT faculty member. The student may spend up to six months doing research at MIT.
The SMA Graduate Fellowship at SMART provides:

up to four years of full tuition fees at the student's home university;
1. a monthly stipend of S$3,200;
2. a scholarly allowance of up to S$12,000 to help cover the expenses associated with a six month research residency at MIT;
3. and co-supervision by an MIT and NTU/NUS faculty.

There is no bond associated with this fellowship.

In order to be eligible for an SMA Graduate Fellowship, a student must:

1. have graduated with an undergraduate degree with first class or second-upper (or equivalent);
2. be an incoming new PhD student not currently matriculated;
3. have a research interest that fits within one or more of the projects currently being carried out in SMART Interdisciplinary Research Group (IRG)s. To find out more information on the projects within the IRGs, click on the links below:

Lee Kuan Yew, NUS Master Scholarship 2010

Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), National University of Singapore (NUS) offers financial aid (scholarships) in MASTER IN PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAMME and MASTER IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME. Application deadline for financial aid is 31 January 2010 for both of them.

Master Scholarships 2010-2011 at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Nanyang Technological University offers master scholarship for academic year 2010/2011.

Admission Requirements
  • A good Bachelor degree from a university approved by the Academic Board.
  • For applicants whose medium of instruction at tertiary level is non-English, a TOEFL score is required. Test dates must be within 2 years or less from the date of your application. IELTS can also be used in place of TOEFL.
  • For applicants to The Nanyang MBA (International Studies), a good GMAT score is required and at least two years work experience.


Final Year Undergraduates [For MSc programmes only]

If you are an existing final year undergraduate, you may apply for admission with photocopy of provisional degree certificate and / or yearly examination results to date. The original degree certificate and academic transcripts / complete yearly results must be provided for verification at the point of matriculation. Otherwise you will not be admitted to the Masters programme. If you are unable to produce your original degree certificate in time, you need to give us an original letter issued by the home university certifying that all requirements for the bachelor degree have been completed.

Fellowships 2010 for Asian Graduate Student

Scholarships 2o10 are available for Asian Citizen.

The Asia Research Institute of NUS invites applications from citizens of Asian countries enrolled for a fulltime advanced degree at a university in an Asian country (except Singapore) for consideration for the award of Asian Graduate Student Fellowships. These fellowships are offered to current graduate students doing their Master’s or PhD degrees and working in the Humanities and Social Sciences on Southeast Asian topics, and will allow the recipients to be based at NUS for an ‘in residence fellowship’ for a period of three months. The aim of the fellowship is to enable scholars to make full use of the wide range of resources held in the libraries of NUS and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. Scholars will be expected to commence on 3 May 2010, and to make a presentation on their work at the Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies at the end of July 2010.

Successful candidates can expect the following benefits:

1) A monthly allowance of SGD1,000.
2) A monthly housing allowance of SGD250.
3) A settling-in allowance of SGD150.
4) A sum of $100 on a reimbursement basis for miscellaneous expenses
5) A one-time round trip travel subsidy by the most economical and direct route on a reimbursement basis upon being accepted for the fellowship.
6) Access to library and computer resources on campus.

Applicants are invited to e-mail/facsimile/mail their application forms (CLICK HERE), a 2-page outline of their research proposal in English (this may be accompanied by a longer statement in a Southeast Asian language) to the address below by 15 November 2009. Arrangements should also be made by which at least two letters of reference, one of which is from your principal supervisor, are sent confidentially to the same address by the same deadline.

The 2-page research proposal must include the following details:

1) Whether the data collection or fieldwork stage of the research has already been completed;
2) how the fellowship will contribute to the research;
3) the types of sources to be consulted in Singapore;
4) proposed work plan during the fellowship.

You can look forward to excellent library and internet computer facilities at NUS’ main library (http://www.lib.nus.edu.sg/), the library at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) (http://www.iseas.edu.sg/library.html) and the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library at the National Library (http://www.nlb.gov.sg) to facilitate your research for the dissertation. NUS’ main library has 2 million volumes covering all topics while ISEAS’ library has 200,000 on Southeast Asian topics, half of which are in Southeast Asian languages.

SINGAPORE SCHOLARSHIP INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS ACADEMIC YEAR 2009/2010

The Singapore Government awards the scholarship to Government-endorsed students from the other member countries of the ASEAN. Each Scholarship is for a full-time undergraduate degree course at the Nanyang Technological University, the National University of Singapore and the Singapore Management University. All disciplines except for Medicine and Dentistry are open to Scholars. The duration of each scholarships is for three or four years, depending on the discipline.

The award based on academic merit and places will allocated by open competition. If necessary, a one-year bridging or foundation programme, in addition to the undergraduate studies, will be provided.

To be eligible, a candidate must:

* Be a citizen in an ASEAN country (Except Singapore)
* Possess excellent academic records; and
* Have a good command of English

Candidates must meet the entry requirements for Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, and Singapore Management University. A recipient of the Scholarship may not concurrently hold any other Scholarship, Fellowship, Grant or Award without prior approval of the Singapore Government. The Scholars are also expected to return to their countries upon graduation to contribute to the development of their countries.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees for the duration of the award, a living allowance of S$4,300 per annum, an accommodation allowance based on the different room rates at each university and one return economy class air ticket passage from his/her home country to Singapore for the duration of studies.

Applications must be endorsed and submitted by the Indonesian Department of National Education (Bureau of Planning and Foreign Cooperation) at Building C, 6th Floor, Jl. Jend.Sudirman, Senayan, Jakarta Pusat. Candidates are required to produce the following :

1. Certificate, endorsement by the former school, for graduated applicants;
2. Recommendation from the school principal, for applicants who are still in Grade 3 at SMU.
