Funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in all discipline areas and a graduate education for those students pursuing studies in mathematics, science, engineering, education, public health or library science. The University of Sheffield Prize Scholarships, UK
University Prize Scholarships cover the cost of the tuition fees and provide an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend of £16,000. The recipient will also receive a Research Training Support Grant of £2,000 to claim back expenses related to their research, such as travel, conferences, books, consumables, equipment, and other miscellaneous items.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel chaired by the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation and comprising the Directors of Research & Innovation from the five faculties. The strongest candidates will be submitted by the faculties into a University-wide competition, from which the Prize Scholarships will be awarded.
Awards are tenable for a maximum of three years full-time and six years part-time subject to satisfactory progress.
Eligibility
* Academic requirements – applicants should have, or expect to achieve, a first or upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent qualifications gained outside the UK in an appropriate area of study.
* Allowed study options – applicants should be registering on their first year of study with the University for 2011/12 on a full-time or part-time programme of doctoral study.
* Residency restrictions – awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants.

International Global Health Scholarship
In an effort to further the educational component of our mission, the Center for Global Health supports students who exhibit outstanding academic records and a strong desire to pursue global health careers. Each year, eight or nine scholarships are awarded to incoming MPH, MHS, and MS students in the Bloomberg School of Public Health. The scholarships are awarded through a competitive process and are open to all domestic and international students.

There is not a separate application for the Global Health Scholarship. Instead, all admitted students into the Bloomberg School of Public Health are considered for the award. [USA] International Student Research Fellowship 2011-2012
HHMI's new fellowship program supports outstanding international predoctoral students studying in the United States who are ineligible for fellowships or training grants through U.S. federal agencies.
HHMI will award three-year fellowships to international students to support years three, four, and five of a Ph.D. program. Eligible fields include biology, chemistry, physics, math, computer science, even plant biology—as well as interdisciplinary research.
HHMI expects to fund up to 40 fellowships for the 2011-2012 academic year. Each fellow will receive an annual stipend of $30,000, plus an educational allowance.
Nomination Process and Eligibility

* Only students nominated by their host institutions can apply for the fellowship.
To be nominated for the fellowship competition:
* Students cannot be U.S. citizens, noncitizen nationals, or permanent residents of the U.S.
* Students must be in the 2nd or 3rd year of a Ph.D. program in the biomedical or related sciences at a designated nominating institution.
* Students must have entered a laboratory in which they will conduct their dissertation research.
* Students in the 1st, 4th, or 5th year of their Ph.D. program are NOT eligible for nomination.
To activate the fellowship:

[UK] The Rhodes Master Scholarships 2011
82 Rhodes Scholars are selected annually from 14 countries or groupings of countries around the world. Selection in each Rhodes constituency is by committees comprised of Rhodes alumni and distinguished non-Scholar members of the community. Though the selection criteria are uniform across all countries, there are some eligibility requirements that vary.
General eligibility requirements and application information, along with the courses available for study on a Rhodes Scholarship, are available below.
