The Weidenfeld Scholarships and Leadership Programme cultivates the leaders of tomorrow from transition and emerging economies by providing outstanding university graduates and young professionals with:
• The opportunity to pursue fully funded graduate studies at the University of Oxford.
• Access to a comprehensive programme of leadership development, long-term mentoring and networking. Overall, the programme provides Scholars with the knowledge, skills and international networks necessary to contribute optimally to public in their countries and regions of origin and to build lasting professional linkages across cultures and continents.
The programme is managed by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD).
The scholarship is tenable only at the University of Oxford.

[International] OFID (OPEC) Scholarships 2010-2011
OFID Scholarships 2010-2011 are available for developing countries. OFID or The OPEC Fund for International Development is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master's degree are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2010/2011. The OFID scholarship will be awarded to support one student or candidate for Master’s degree studies.
The applicant may be from any developing country, and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master's degree studies in a relevant field of development, in any recognized university/college in the world. Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly-driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of graduate studies. The winner of the OFID Scholarship Award will receive a scholarship of up to US$100,000. The funds will be spread over a maximum of two years, toward the completion of a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, at an accredited educational institution, starting in the autumn of the academic year 2010/2011.

STEP 1: Ensure that you fulfill the OFID Scholarship Award Eligibility Criteria.
STEP 2: Register within the OFID Scholarship Portal by using your email address. Please note you can log into the portal as many times as required.
STEP 3: Fill out the application form. Make sure to save data each time you update your application. Once you are logged in, if the page remains inactive for more than two hours, your session will time-out and you may lose unsaved data. Do not submit your application until you have completed the entire application process!
STEP 4: Upload necessary documents; CV, two recommendation letters, Bachelor's certificate/transcript, acceptance letter into postgraduate program and essay.

2. A monthly allowance to cover living expenses, books and accommodation, will be transferred to the student’s own personal bank account on a quarterly basis.
3. Prior to the start of his/her first year studies, the student will be paid a relocation grant, equal to two-month allowance. OFID will also pay for travel costs from the nearest airport to the student’s place of residence, to the nearest airport to the chosen place of study. Upon completion of the studies, the student will be paid the cost of one-way air ticket to his/her home country.

2. A scanned copy of the last university degree or certificate.
3. A scanned letter of acceptance from your chosen educational institution, confirming your admission, subject of study and duration of the Master’s degree program (must not exceed a maximum of two years).

[Cyprus] MBA Scholarships for Developing Countries at Cyprus Republic
The Republic of Cyprus is offering up to a total of sixteen (16) full scholarships of 12-months duration to study for the attainment of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) or Master in Public Sector Management (MPSM)* title for the academic year 2010-2011. The Universities taking part in the scheme are: the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM), the European University Cyprus (EUC), the University of Cyprus (UCY) and the University of Nicosia (UNIC). Each University will receive up to four (4) students who will attend the above study programme as official scholarship holders from the Republic of Cyprus. In order to submit an application for scholarship, the applicant must fill-in the relevant application form for the respective University programme. Along with the University application each candidate must attain an official endorsement by her/his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs using the Endorsement Form (detailed instructions on the endorsement procedure are included in the document). The applicant may then submit his/her application along with the endorsement form at a Competent Consular Authority of the Republic of Cyprus of their choice, not later than the deadline shown above for each University.
In order to expedite the process, it is strongly recommended that the applicant forwards a copy of the application form and a copy of the duly completed and stamped endorsement form to the Academic Institute organizing the program, as soon as he/she attains these documents. The originals should be submitted or sent to the Competent Consular Authority of the Republic of Cyprus, before the deadline (as instructed above). It is noted that ONLY applications accompanied by duly completed and stamped endorsement forms (by the applicant΄s Ministry of Foreign Affairs) will be considered for a scholarship award.
Special provisions for Pakistani and Armenian applicants:
1) It is noted that the application forms of Pakistani applicants will be short listed by the Higher Education Commission and subsequently endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan in Islamabad. This means that the first point of contact for Pakistani applicants is the Higher Education Commission.
2) Candidates from Armenia should obtain an endorsement of their application through the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
Important notes concerning the award of scholarships:
1. Candidates who have received a scholarship of either short or long duration by the Republic of Cyprus within the last two (2) years 2008 or 2009 are NOT eligible to apply for these scholarships.
2. Eligible candidates must be permanent residents of their country of citizenship.
3. All scholarships are offered officially by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus to other Governments on a bilateral basis as official technical assistance and not to individuals. Therefore, it is expected that with the end of the scholarship, the scholarship recipients will return to their country of citizenship so that the recipient country is benefited to the highest possible degree by the transfer of know-how and not just the individual receiving the scholarshsip.
4. For the scholarship to be awarded it is necessary for the candidate to accept the Terms and Conditions of the scholarship.

This course provides a firm grounding in advanced quantitative methods, taught within an applied social science framework, and offers relevant and marketable skills for a career in research. It is recognised for PhD training by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and is taught with an emphasis on hands-on training in the application of methods and software. The course is available full-time over one year or part-time over two years.
PhD opportunities in Social Statistics
Available Funding 2010. PhD students are highly valued members of Social Statistics and we strive to provide a supportive and stimulating environment for study. We welcome applications to study both methodological and substantive contemporary social, economic and political questions using up-to-date and imaginative quantitative approaches. It is possible for potential students to receive joint supervision from specialists in other disciplines in the School of Social Sciences or from elsewhere in the University. Research Scholarships/Fellowships 2010-2011: Japan (Keizo Obuchi)-UNESCO
Research Scholarships/Fellowship 2010/2011:
The UNESCO/Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowships Programme funded under a Japan Funds-in-Trust project will aim, in particular, to impact on capacity-building and research activities in the following areas which were of particular importance to Mr Keizo Obuchi: 1. Environment (with particular attention to Water Sciences); 2. Intercultural Dialogue; 3. Information and Communication Technologies; and 4. Peaceful conflict resolution. No other research topics will be considered.
Applicants, a maximum of TWO from each applying National Commission, must meet the following general criteria:
1. Candidates under this Programme must be post-graduate researchers, already holding either an M.A. or M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) and wishing to pursue research work abroad (preferably in their own region) with a view to enhancing knowledge in one of the four specific fields mentioned in paragraph D.1 below. Thus, those who are in the process of completing their Master’s degree must have completed it PRIOR to taking up their Fellowship.
2. Candidates must be persons of high intellectual promise who may be expected to make significant contributions to their country on return.
3. Candidates must be no more than 40 years of age. Thus, applicants born before 1 January 1970 will not be considered under the Programme.
4. The selected Fellow must carry out the research under the auspices of an academic supervisor in a host institution. Confirmation of acceptance from the academic supervisor is imperative.
5. Priority attention will be given to:
* Women
* Candidates from least developed countries (LDCs)
* Palestinian researchers
6. Candidates must be proficient in reading and writing the language of instruction in the proposed country of study/research.
7. Applicants must be in good health, both physically and mentally.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship 2010 for 27 EU Member

Scholarships
The Erasmus Mundus programme supports high-quality European Masters Courses, by providing attractive grants for students having excellent academic results from around the world and who have been accepted to the to engage in the European Master in System Dynamics. Third country (i.e. non-European) students
For each Third-Country student, the scholarship amounts to € 24.000 per year, for a maximum of two years. This includes a contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs to a maximum of € 8.000; a contribution to participation costs (including insurance coverage) to a maximum of € 4.000/semester and a monthly allowance of € 1.000/month.
Third-country nationals, eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, are Citizens from all other countries than: the 27 EU Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Nederlands, Portugal, the UK,Sweden,Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain) and the EEA-EFTA states (Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland ) who are not residents of any of the above countries, and who have not carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above countries.
European students
For each European student, the Erasmus Mundus scholarship amounts to € 10.000 a year, for a maximum of two years. This includes a contribution to the participation costs (including insurance coverage) to a maximum of € 4.000/semester and a monthly allowance of € 500/month.
European nationals, eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are citizens from the 27 EU Member States (Austria,Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland,Italy, Luxembourg, the Nederlands, Portugal, the UK,Sweden,Cyprus,Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic,Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain) and the EEA-EFTA states (Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland).
Please note that the number of applications must be limited to three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses maximum per student. In the case you apply to more than three Courses you will automatically be excluded from the selection for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
Students with special needs may receive an increased monthly allowance.

Scholarships
The Erasmus Mundus programme supports high-quality European Masters Courses, by providing attractive grants for students having excellent academic results from around the world and who have been accepted to the to engage in the European Master in System Dynamics. For more information about Erasmus Mundus, see the EMA website. If you want to apply for a scholarship, you can indicate this on the application form (see "Application procedure").
Third country (i.e. non-European) students
For each Third-Country student, the scholarship amounts to € 24.000 per year, for a maximum of two years. This includes a contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs to a maximum of € 8.000; a contribution to participation costs (including insurance coverage) to a maximum of € 4.000/semester and a monthly allowance of € 1.000/month.
Third-country nationals, eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, are Citizens from all other countries than: the 27 EU Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Nederlands, Portugal, the UK,Sweden,Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain) and the EEA-EFTA states (Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland ) who are not residents of any of the above countries, and who have not carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above countries.
European students
For each European student, the Erasmus Mundus scholarship amounts to € 10.000 a year, for a maximum of two years. This includes a contribution to the participation costs (including insurance coverage) to a maximum of € 4.000/semester and a monthly allowance of € 500/month.
European nationals, eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are citizens from the 27 EU Member States (Austria,Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland,Italy, Luxembourg, the Nederlands, Portugal, the UK,Sweden,Cyprus,Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic,Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain) and the EEA-EFTA states (Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland).
Please note that the number of applications must be limited to three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses maximum per student. In the case you apply to more than three Courses you will automatically be excluded from the selection for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
Students with special needs may receive an increased monthly allowance.

The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) Offers Fellowships to Master’s Level Students 2010/2011
When I'm blog walking and surfing on the net, I found a good news about: Next Generation Leadership Fellowships – 2010/2011 – National Bureau-Asian Research – US citizens/ Master’s Degree – Washington D.C – South Africa
The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) offers fellowships to master’s level students and professional degree holders to work at the NBR headquarters in Seattle for one year.
Application Instructions:
Applications for 2010-2011 fellowships will be accepted beginning December 1, 2009. Applicants are required to submit the following:
- Curriculum vitae/resume
- 750-word essay stating their interest in applying for a particular topical and regional research area, and how their research within that area would contribute to NBR’s research agenda
- Three written references (one outside of academia), emailed directly by those writing them to NBR with subject line “applicant name, application,” by January 16, 2010.

Fellowship Eligibility:
U.S. citizenship or permanent residence status (by time of application deadline) is required. The applicant must have completed a master’s degree by the time the fellowship begins. Individuals who have received their master’s degree diplomas up to twelve months prior to the application deadline may apply to the program. Prospective fellows should apply only for the year that they expect to participate. No deferrals are permitted.
Fellowship Benefits:
For each fellow, regardless of his or her career trajectory, the program provides an extraordinary opportunity. Fellows who go on to specialize in Asia scholarship will have been exposed to the policy relevance of research. Those who choose a policy-related career will have been exposed to the importance of quality scholarship. Fellows who choose other career paths, whether in the private, nonprofit, or media sectors, will have been exposed to the dynamic intersection of policy and scholarship.
One thing will hold true for all alumni of The Next Generation Leadership Program: They will be young leaders capable of making a significant difference in how the United States relates to Asia. Their engagement in critical efforts to ensure that policy is well-informed by the best academic research available will shape their contributions as leaders and strengthen their impacts in their various fields. Fellows will acquire or refine skills in:
- analysis, research, and writing
- written presentation of research in a format that is useful to policymakers
- briefing skills
- team collaboration
- project management
- understanding U.S. foreign policy processes
Each fellow will receive a $32,500 fellowship award (with benefits), as well as a stipend for relocation expenses.

The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship: Europe, The Middle East and Africa
As part of Google’s ongoing commitment to furthering Anita’s vision, we are pleased to announce The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship: Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Through the scholarship, we aim to encourage women to excel in computing and technology, and become active role models and leaders.
Multiple scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic performance, leadership experience and demonstrated passion for computer science. A group of female Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD student finalists will be chosen from the applicant pool. The scholarship recipients will each receive a €7,000 (or equivalent) scholarship.
In June 2010, all scholarship recipients and finalists will be invited to visit Google’s Engineering Centre in Zurich for a networking retreat. It will include workshops with a series of speakers, panels, breakout sessions and social activities, and will provide an opportunity for all finalists to meet and share their experiences.
Eligibility requirements
Candidates must:
* Be a female student entering her final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or enrolled in an a Master’s or PhD programme (or equivalent), in 2010/2011.
* Be enrolled at a University in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa. Citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to apply.
* Be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a closely related technical field.
* Maintain an excellent academic record (e.g. a First Class Honours degree).

Ph.D Scholarship in Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Netherland
A PhD student position in the area of quantum optics and solid-state physics is available at the Photonics and Semiconductor Nanophysics group at the Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands).
Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor nanostructures with a three-dimensional confinement potential, resulting in a quantized energy structure and atom-like radiative emission properties. Single QDs in optical nanocavities provide an ideal framework to investigate cavity quantum electrodynamic (QED) effects in a solid-state environment, with important potential applications to quantum information processing.
This project, funded by the Dutch Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM), aims at investigating the dynamic control of cavity QED effects by the application of ultrafast electric fields. By applying a time-dependent electric field on QDs in photonic crystal nanocavities, we will dynamically tune the exciton energy and therefore control the coupling with the cavity mode in a timescale faster than the spontaneous emission time. We aim at demonstrating the control of the photon waveform, and the generation of entangled light-matter states, by the control of the weak- and strong-coupling regime, respectively.

Doctoral Scholarships in Kochi University, Japan 2010
Special Scholarship Program (SSP) was established in 2003 in order to support the advanced research of the university by enlisting the help of highly capable international students. Every year in April and October, the university enrolls selected foreign doctoral students under specific research projects. The students pursue the doctoral course in English while at the same time assisting their host professor as a research assistant (RA). Through this program KUT wishes to expand and deepen international ties with academic and educational institutions all over the world.

EPA Marshall Scholarship in United Kingdom
These Scholarships are jointly funded by the Marshall Commission and the US Environmental Protection Agency. Scholarships will support research students specifically in the area of the Environment. Applicants may study at any appropriate UK Institution. Anyone who is selected for a Marshall Scholarship who wishes to complete research in an environmental area will be eligible for this Scholarship.
